Back from Christmas Vacation

I just came back from visiting with my family in Winston Salem, NC. North Carolina may seem like the south to many people, but let me tell you it was COLD!  I live in South Carolina and am used to living in tank tops year round, so the cold and damp was a shock to my bones.

But it was good to gather with family. This year was rather special as my niece is visibly pregnant and nephew's wife announced she was 8 weeks along in her pregnancy! So the coming year will add babies to our family. The main topic of conversation was naming the new babies.

As we all suggested names to the new parents I learned a lot about different methods of choosing a name. Like all new parents, a great deal of thought has gone into the choices that were made.

My niece and her husband have chosen not to tell anyone the name they have picked out. Since the baby's gender is no surprise (it's going to be a girl) they are saving the name for a surprise at the birth.

My nephew and his wife, chose names before they even married. They selected certain family members to honor. She has a hunch it is a boy, but it is too soon to tell.

It is an exciting time in our family and it was a wonderful holiday. I hope that each of you has a wonderful holiday week as well.
