Why is Thanksgiving the Big Shopping day for Christmas?

In my younger years I wondered why the Christmas season started before I had finished my Thanksgiving turkey! Being older now, I have an answer for you.

The reason is has nothing to do with our desire to rush the season, it is all the fault of the US Postal Service.  Now, I know these guys and gals work really hard, but when Christmas comes around their work goes up by multiples. I personally mail a card or package about once a month, remembering birthdays and such. Some folks mail more, and some less. But at Christmas, EVERYBODY mails something and I mail lots more than normal.

So, to help you out here is the link to the postal service calender. According to the calender, I have to have everything purchased, wrapped packaged and shipped by December 15 unless I want to pay extra. Yikes!

This is where online shopping helps out. I can order all my kids gifts from Kidoodles by Kim, and she will ship the whole box to my grandkids parents and THEY can do all the wrapping!

Here's where I am on my list. My foster daughter Tami, just had a new baby boy in August so I am going with T-shirts for the older kids, and a long sleeved onesie for the baby. These are the designs I am thinking of..

This one is for the baby. I will order it in a long sleeved onesie and since he is growing fast I am going to order it in large.

This one is for the older daughter. She is just as prissy as the girl in the design. She will love this shirt.

Her oldest son is the size of a grown man at 16, so for him I will get an extra large shirt from the Embroidered Adult Category.
